Las Vegas!
Paris Casino We left the Dodge Theater and raced through the night to the airport. Our driver traded the laptop and our other carry-on bags for his reasonable fee and two of us went through security without a hitch. One of the security guards was overheard to say that "they have things they look for" and so we weren't surprised to see them detain The Redhead and give her a thorough going over. We made our way to the gate and joined the crowd there. As we waited in line, we compared the boarding passes we had wrangled out of the Evil Brian of America West, and saw to our dismay that two of them were different from the third. His lovely parting gift to us was a security check! What a sweet guy! Red and I were pulled from the line and moved over to the security area. I'm for security in these uncertain times and try to make their job as pleasant as I can. They were nice people, but as I watched I had the impression of a bunch of hungry raccoons crawling over my two bags. They opened them, took things out, thumbed through my notepads, counted my money, tried on my makeup and sniffed, snorted and licked every thing I had. A nice older lady checked me with her wand, then realized it wasn't turned on and checked me again. They didn't seem to be in any hurry, and when I asked if my plane was going to leave without me, reassured me that they would not let them leave. They didn't find anything, as there was NOTHING to find, and after cleaning my laptop with their little pad, allowed me to board. I saw Red getting the same treatment for the second time that evening, and was assured by an official that they wouldn't allow the plane to leave without HER either. After all, she's the one with the rap connections, and we might need her in Vegas. VEGAS!!! We could see the lights of the strip from our plane on approach and all
the familiar landmarks that we love. I get a charge from seeing Vegas
from the air. I consider it Disneyland for Adults. SueC and I both
love Vegas and love the Paris. We requested our usual: a smoking
room on a high floor overlooking the Bellagio water ballet and they gave
us just what we asked for. We had some breakfast at Le Cafe.
Red and SueC went up to arrange for our luggage and left me in the casino
with money ready to leap out of my pockets into the slots. I feel
a bit of gambling is every Moody fans obligation! Obviously the casino
expects their performers to attract the kind of crowd they want – older
people with money. I was too tired to sleep or rest and so spent
a few happy hours supporting the casino. LOL
I felt pretty darn good and enjoyed coffee and Baileys in the Central Bar. Watching the crowd pass by in Paris is wonderful entertainment in itself. Another fan came to sit with me a bit, and we spent some time in philosophical Moody discussion. I thought SueC had slept enough and when I went up to wake her, I found her already up and ready for, you guessed it: Bailey's and coffee! LOL It was a great day in Vegas, but I had run up a debt that HAD to be paid.
I laid down for a little "nap" around 7 before the concert, and died.
It was sad and sorry. SueC tried in vain to wake me, but I couldn't
be revived. Apparently, I talked to SueC while being half a sleep
and asked her "where" I was. SueC had problems of her own, and had
figured out when to be down at the venue in order to hear Singer.
However, she had forgotten that casino concerts here do not have an intermission!
Lord, we're pathetic. SueC was quite surprised that they were at
LOAM.
I will therefore give a review supplied by The Redhead who MADE it to the concert and was there for its entirety. (which makes HER the "winner") Review by The Redhead: The concert as *I* saw it: there was a Welshman, two blonde backup singers, a drummer WITH a beard, and a drummer without a beard. They were wearing either black and white, or white and black. I'm not sure. Justin hopped at the beginning of The Voice. That little hop must have been all he had because there was neither energy in the Band nor in the audience. There was plenty of security and it was noticeable. There were faces on sticks of all the Band, including the backups. They were held aloft during IKYOTS. Costumes were expected since it was Halloween, but one young gal looked like she had escaped from Dennis Rodman's Halloween party at Mandalay Bay. She was not dressed as a pimp. SueC was dancing in back with some Mafia guy and didn't have anything to report on the three songs SHE saw. I got my much needed rest and was awakened by the phone at 1:30am. It was some horny guy who told me that he was 25 and had a chest that you just wouldn't believe! I was about to tell him that I preferred older guys when the phone went dead. Thank goodness! I just hate it when they cry and beg! SueC came in from listening to Catdaddy and we went to breakfast. It was another typical day in Las Vegas! MaggieMay |
